U.S. Release Date: 1960

The Zorba family inherits a haunted mansion and the twelve Ghosts which inhabit it. There's also a hidden treasure, if only the family can survive to find it. It seems the spirits are out to find a 13th ghost to join them in the afterlife.

William Castle, the guru of gimmickry, produced and directed this campfest, chock full of projected ghosts, his usual amount of screaming cast members and some tongue-in-cheek humor. When the film was originally released in 1960, theater-goers were given a special pair of "ghost viewer" glasses and told to expect "13 Times the Thrills! 13 Times the Chills! 13 Times the Fun!" And then there's Margaret Hamilton of Wizard of Oz fame, who all but reprises her "Wicked Witch" role here as the creepy old Zorba housekeeper.
