Chucky's original owner Andy has been replaced by a second homicidal doll and "Chucky gets lucky" . . . OH BOY! In spite of this moment of high camp, this third Child's Play sequel is surprisingly-watchable and without question, the most fun film in the series.

I looked the other way when this one hit the theaters a year ago. After suffering through the awful Child's Play 2 and 3 movies, the last thing I wanted to see was a grown-up Andy still being chased by the evil Chucky.

Thank goodness writer Don Mancini came to his senses. His witty script and the hiring of veteran Hong Kong director Ronny Yu are just what was needed to bring the series back from the dead.

Bride of Chucky has a good mix of horror, action and comedy; and a most-appropriate soundtrack featuring the likes of White Zombie, Slayer and Stabbing Westward. Another nice touch is the offhanded tributes to Friday the 13th's Jason, Halloween's Michael Myers, Hellraiser's Pinhead and other modern horror characters.

If you prefer your horror without all the high jinks, rent the excellent original Child's Play.

And if you cannot get enough of these movies, you'll be thrilled to hear that Mancini is slated to write and direct Son of Chucky for a late-2000 release.
