Many years before The Blair Witch Project and Jeepers Creepers splattered onto the big screen, the by-ways of Texas was the setting for at least two films set in rural America. One well-known The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and one not-so (Race With the Devil).

...a sort of sinister cinema...

there was Peter Fonda and Warren Oates who pull off a rural road and witness a cult murder.

Oates: "I don't believe a school bus on Sunday!"

Two couples who witness a cult murder are chased by devil worshippers - which is pretty much everyone in this part of Texas. The passengers aboard a Winnebago go through almost as much hell as their vehicle does.

One IMDb user called it "pretty good drive in movie pulp with one of the creepiest endings you're likely to see." According to Fox Movie Channel, "(director) Jack Starrett claimed to have used real witches and Satanists as extras in cult scenes."
