Peter Travers of Rolling Stone magazine really dug his fangs into this one: "Wes Craven Presents Dracula 2000 raises an unholy cinematic stench..."

Now that is good stuff, but let me stop with his complete dismissal of the film right there. I really did not find this any worse than many of Craven's other films. But then again, this really is NOT a Craven film. (He is the one of five executive producers, but apparently he needed a break after directing the Scream thrillogy.)

It is film editor-turned-director Patrick Lussier who puts his lead bloodsucker (Gerard Butler) and a trio of sexy vampiresses through the paces. The film follows Dracula from London to New Orleans, where he hopes to locate and put the bite on the daughter (Justine Waddell) of his long-time nemesis (Abraham/Matthew Van Helsing played by Christopher Plummer).

There really is nothing new to speak of in this countless remake of Dracula (pun intended). Sadly, it will not take very long for this millennium edition to be all-but-forgotten.
